The world-wide known American Gold medalists, Michael Phelps won eight gold medals in the Olympic games. The last time someone almost reached that area was in the 1972 Olympics in Munich. In 1972 Mark Spitz won 7 gold medals in the Olympics. Michael Phelps has always been a inspiration to swim athletes though out America. And now since he won 8 gold medals he inspired many more swimmers out there world-wide.The Swimwear manufacturer Speedo gave Michael a one million dollar check for at least tying the record with the 1972 Olympic 7 gold medalist Spitz. With the $1 million dollar bonus Phelps received he is going to start a foundation.
