Braylon Edwards over Steve Smith

Braylon Edwareds emerged as one of the best WR's in the NFL last year. Catching 80+ balls with close to 1300 reception yards and grabbing the second most TD's in the whole league behind superstar WR Randy Moss, Edwards emerged as a solid fantasy pick.

This year, Edwards is ranked by yahoo and espn experts in their mock drafts as pick number 15. Last year, Edwards wasn't even in the top 75 picks. The Derek Anderson - Braylon Edwards connection is one of the most lethal connections in the NFL but some people still say the Jake Delhomme - Steve Smith connection is stronger. They say that Steve Smith is the better pick, and say that with the addition of Delhomme, the Carolina Panther's passing game is one of the best in the NFL.

But here is why Braylon Edwards is the better pick over Steve Smith this year: Steve Smith proved to be wildly inconsistent last year and he had nagging injuries. On top of that, his favorite QB Jake Delhomme was also injured for the entire season last year. And you compare that to Braylon Edwards: he is young, has a big body so he is an exceptional target in the end zone, has a very talented QB who is only going to get better and his teams' offensive line just got better so the only way for Edwards to go, is up. Edwards is the safer, more valuable pick.
